Dobro Meeting

Hey Dobro® friends

I plan to have a Dobro Meeting on Saturday, October,10, 2015….at St Paul United Methodist Church, at 645 Main Street in Hellertown, PA. 18055

Meeting time is 12:00 noon until 5:00pm

Jan & I will have some light lunch for everyone.

Please let me know by October 3rd if you plan to attend.

If this date conflicts with other events going on, please let me know then I can try to change the date.

The meeting Agenda will be like it has always been…casual…jamming… but a lot of fun.

I would like to have a multi person Dobro Workshop, where each of the people participating will share ( play) a tune, show some techniques, demonstrate an accessory, compare instruments…etc I would be looking for (6) people to dedicate (10) minutes to each of their presentations. That will fill one hour of our meeting time.

Looking forward to hearing from you…..Hope you can make it to this Dobro Meeting.

Cabinet and Bovine Social Club at The Historic Blairstown Theatre

CabinetCABINET is a band with roots firmly planted in the Appalachian tradition. They wear their influences like badges, honoring the canon of roots, bluegrass, country, and folk, weaving these sounds into a patchwork Americana quilt. But this music isn’t romanticizing or rehashing the past.

CABINET makes it mark on today. The steady aim of their harmonies soar straight onto target each time, the soaring vocals giving voice to the story of each song. Their music takes the long way home, treating its listeners like passengers on a ride through scenic back roads. Their live shows are inclusive, celebratory, and community-building. Everyone will want to get on the wagon with CABINET.

Bovine Social Club

Bred on the northern banks of the Delaware River, BOVINE SOCIAL CLUB, is a grassy, twangy, swinging breed of Americana Alt-Country sounds sure to get your dancing cow on. One wicked lineup of seasoned jam musicians backing the lyrics of guitarist, vocalist, philosopher, memoirist and former monk, Samuel Saint Thomas, BOVINE SOCIAL CLUB is one of the fastest growing new Americana bands in Metro New York.

Peter Rowan and Railroad Earth at the Sherman Theatre

Railroad Earth<p>November 23

On November 30th Peter Rowan is playing with Yungchen Llamo and will join Railroad Earth.

Peter Rowan will also be doing a set with Railroad Earth to play “Old And In The Way” in it’s entirety.

Railroad Earth is one of America’s greatest bands playing today, plain and simple. They sing of our nation’s changing landscape and social ills with a commitment reminiscent of Woody Guthrie, while interpolating instrumental timbres that could have been pulled from Celtic or Cajun culture. And as anyone who has caught them live will attest, their concerts are imbued

with the fire-in-the-belly passion of straight-ahead, blue collar rock & roll. Then there is the newest album from the New Jersey sextet, which is the most cohesive embodiment of their myriad gifts to date—hence the decision to simply call it Railroad Earth—showcasing nine new selections that draw strength and inspiration from an acknowledgment of our shared past, while also embracing new ideas and celebrating diversity… just like America when she is at her best.

Once again, don’t miss our great Horn O Plenty festivities each day around town! Activities and more to be revealed soon!
